What can GPUs be used for?

The Ethereum (ETH) Merge was a success! ETH has moved from Proof-of-Work to Proof-of-Stake. GPUs can no longer mine $ETH.

If you don't want to leave your gaming PC idle, here's what else you can do with your Gaming GPUs:

1. Help Find Cure for Diseases

Folding@Home is a project that empowers anyone to become a citizen scientist and speed up biomedical research. All you need is a personal computer (PC) and an internet connection to run simulations on your PCs.

The software runs while you do other things. While you are going about your everyday activities, your computer will be working to help find cures for diseases as per projects set up by the team.

There are even communities that reward you with cryptocurrencies for folding like Banano.

2. Help Render Work of Others

Render Network is designed to connect users looking to perform render jobs with people who have idle GPUs to process the renders.

The whole idea is based on a business model where owners of idle GPUs will contribute their GPU for jobs while users that need jobs done pay fees to the owners

As of now, it is open for artists to request jobs to be performed. But, there is a limit to the number of GPU owners that can contribute. An interest form needs to be filled in first as an application.

3. Continue Mining $ETHW

There are still a few in the ETH community that doesn't want to move to POS like EthereumPoW. They made an initiative to continue the ETHW hard fork.
